dr roy d palmerRoy Palmer has been working for the development of international seafood industry since 1972 with outstanding expertise in all post-harvest activities and with valid training qualifications. He was conferred with an Honorary Professorship by Universidad Tecnológica del Mar de Tamaulipas Bicentenario, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

He has traveled extensively propagating the concepts of fish as health food, food safety, rural aquaculture, need of improving the seafood consumption and necessity of adopting ethical seafood business. He works for/with many organizations through his consultancy services and writes for numerous magazines and publications. Roy has admirable knowledge in commercial fishing, fisheries and aquaculture and is in regular demand to present at conferences across the globe. In 2019, he was an invited speaker at ‘The World Shrimp Conference 2019’ for INFOFISH in Bangkok, Thailand and AQUABE Conference in Cochin, India organized by Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) held during the last week of November 2019.

Roy is a believer in continuous improvement, collaborations, associations etc. and always strives for innovative ways to improve the fisheries industry. He is the founder and COO of the Association of International Seafood Professionals and combines that with the lead role he plays with Aquaculture without Frontiers, USA, Australia & Mexico, which is a global charity moved on by many volunteers who share their skills, knowledge and time to improve conditions for the poor who are struggling with hunger and malnutrition.

In his ‘spare time’ he also works for raising the profile of fish as a health protein and for improving the consumption of seafood in the wold. He does this in many ways including being involved with Global Initiative of Life & Leadership through Seafood (GILLS), gathering and disseminating seafood information out to the politicians, media and consumers. Roy has recently worked with the Mexican Government assisting them in increasing seafood consumption and worked for FAO on developing a strategy for seafood consumption in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He believes that aquaculture will become recognized as the most important food production sector of the world within no time. He was awarded the first Medal of Honor from the World Gastronomy Institute in 2019.
